I adore work in progress photos, messy studios, blank canvases, scribbled authors notes and unfinished paintings. I love the process at times more than the finished work. There is so much movement, experience, excitement and potential in the process. It might be why I’m always starting new projects and doing so many different creative works. I love the exploration, the “what ifs” and the “hows” of life. I love experimenting with new ways of seeing and doing what I love. The unfolding of possibility is a constant and I love being a part of the expansion that happens within our hearts and minds as we dive into creativity in any form.
The first photograph in this set was taken by my mom when we collaborated on a painting, our goal was to take the very small details I highlighted in my work and to translate them onto a larger canvas. As I often paint with a pie scoop which is much like a large palette knife my mom picked up a trowel which worked like an even larger palette knife, it was a fun experiment and a process I have since worked in to my present art. Much like my love for the process of art I adore the details, so my goal was to create very very large details that could be seen as a complete work. I don’t know that we were entirely successful but we had a blast and collaborating with a professional artist like my mother was a fantastic learning experience.
