I began this painting in September 2019 and then circled back around and finished it in 2022 yet in a very different way than what I originally planned, but I love the way it came out. I remember when I decided to paint this huge painting I had hardly any paint at all, I'd gone through a big home move and had spent everything on the move and setting up my new home and yet I was anxious to get painting again. I picked out the best color palette I could from leftover paint and I decided to at least create the first layer of this painting. I'd wait till I could afford more paint to finish it with the thick textures I usually like to use. I hung the painting up to dry and then proceeded to get attached to it just as it was. This is not the first time I've gotten attached to an unfinished work and called it done. ;) Thin leftover paint, spontaneously spread across the canvas with thoughts that I'd do more later, lead to an unexpected work of art that I grew to love. In 2022 I finished all the edges of the painting and filled in the blanks where I hadn't had enough paint and now this piece is in the dining room of my own home after another big move later that same year. I love the way art surprises us, much like life, even the most unplanned experiences and creations can turn out to be something unexpected and truly lovely. 8/8/2024 Charity I named this painting "Castle Sky Through a Window" and now it hangs in my own little castle, my first real home of my own. <3
