A SMILE TO MY LIPS
3/19/2014 I will love him in the morning Between wakefulness and sleep When his name is the first thought on my mind And the first thing To bring A smile to my lips. I will love him as I climb sleepily out of bed Making coffee Wishing he was here To share a cup with me. I will love him at noon When I'm pushing through All those little unavoidable tasks That life takes To make it from day to day, I will think of something funny he said to me Laugh to myself and it will make the work go by faster. And I will love him As I cook dinner And listen to music Kind of wishing every single song didn't make me think of him, Kind of glad at the same time That they all do. I will love him in the evening When I'm unwinding With a glass of wine In the sunset air outside And I will wonder what he's doing... Is he working Relaxing Laughing with friends Thinking of some other girl The way I think of him? And I will love him As I lay down to sleep And try not to imagine His arms around me And his breath on my neck I'll try not to But I do I always do. And I'll fall asleep in a thought of him Just like that. I will love him In the darkest hours When the train wakes me In the night As it rattles the windows And speaks to me Of trips that I will take Journeys I will make As I think how I wish I was on that train Going someplace Where he is Someplace where I'm sure I am wanted by him. And I will fall asleep again With a restless need again. And I will love him in the morning Between wakefulness and sleep When his name is the first thought on my mind And the first thing To bring A smile to my lips. Charity
