Death changes a person.
It opens the void
It lifts the veil
It frees you in a way
I'm not sure I can explain.
For after it has touched you
Very little frightens you anymore
For you have already seen the worst.
And that is when you realize
Many of the things
We do to get by in this world
By stress and fear;
And that death of the one you love has left you
With nothing more to be afraid of.
You've touched what everyone else fears most
you've seen into the darkest part
of the blackest night.
It's difficult after that
To be motivated to do the things
that people do
For the sake of fear.
